Making food while Renovating - No regard for health and safety of patrons

A friend and I (along with other patrons) had a shocking experience at a Spar in Protea Heights, Brackenfell in Cape Town. When we entered the shop there was a "haze" hanging in the air, as if it was misty. However as soon as we got to the food section, we heard the power tools on the other side of the shop and realized it was dust from the renovations the were doing. We walked around to the other side of the shop and were shocked at the amount of dust in the air over ALL products, produce, meats etc. We had to cover our face in order not to breathe in the dust. There were families (including kids) shopping with their faces covered. The curtain used to cover the room they were working in had a huge gap at the bottom which caused all the dust to escape. We proceed to shorten our shopping and paid. We saw the manager to point out all the dust and while speaking to him he turned and walked away to speak to anther customer. We followed him and complained about the dust. He was completely apathetic towards our complaints and said the food was covered (this was not true) and the dust was on the floor. I took him to the "small curtain" to show him the dust, I could actually slide on the floor due to the amount of dust. I asked to him for an area manager number to lay a complaint and he told me: "this is my shop, there is no one higher than me". I was shocked and disgusted as I have been shopping there for quite some time...I will never go back there again and will advise anyone else I know not to use that specific Spar again.
