'I am Top Management'

On November 23 at 19:19 I visited my local SPAR in Paarl. The store was quite busy and they only had one till point open. I don't mind waiting in line, but what really made me angry was the fact that there were several employees standing around doing absolutely nothing.

The lady at the only operating till point were being interrupted by two young men (in SPAR uniform) trying to chat her up. Then a third person joined in and she thyen proceeded to play with the one man's hair. All of this happening in front of waiting clients.

It seems the management staff in this shop finds behaviour like this totally acceptable. They even find it acceptable that management conduct staff searches right in front of clients. If you have problems with dishonest staff, don't make it public. We don't need to know you can't trust them.

When I phoned a day later to complain, I had the displeasure of speaking to CLIFFORD who told me he's in TOP MANAGEMENT (whatever that means) and he will investigate this matter. Only problem with CLIFFORD is that he can hardly speak English or Afrikaans.

Not really the TOP MANAGEMENT you want in a very conservative Afrikaans neighbourhood.

Here's what I suggest ZOMERLUST SPAR do: Employ decent people with at least a few years' experience in retail. It's time to get rid of the riff-raff you have in your shop.
