****phobic remarks/ **** smell
Good day. I go the the Spar on Durban Road near Tygervalley every lunch and sometimes in the mornings before work as well. And every day after work I stop at the Spar near my house in Main Road Green Point. EVERY SINGLE DAY so I spend a lot of money at Spar but after today I don't think I'll ever set foot in a Spar again.
This morning at the Durban Rd Spar one of the workers said very loudly the word "moffie" among other things and then when he realized that the one worker and I heard it he put his hand in front of his mouth and entered the room next to the entrance of the shop. What kind of disrespectful, ill-mannered and ****phobic staff do you hire? I mean if I heard it surely other customers also heard it. I am *** and the person that served me at the till is also either *** or transgender (very polite) did the staff member say it about me or did he say it about the person working there? Either way is UNACCEPTABLE. Even if it was a joke (which it didn't seem to be) it is not funny. To me this is the same as making a ****** remark and having people hear you and its plain disrespectful to people and very unprofessional. I don't need an apology from Spar - I need to know what will happen to this person? If I had to make remarks on gender/***uality/****** at my place of work I will be asked to leave immediately.
Secondly, this is not the first time but as far as I remember the 3rd time that when I went to the Spar near my house they were busy mopping the floors at the wine/meats/salads/warm meals area. There's no polite way to describe the smell other than it smelled like straight-up-**** in that store. I don't know what happened, whether a pipe keeps bursting but the smell was unbearable. And ONCE AGAIN (which happens often at this Spar) I had to stand in a queue because only 2 (the 3rd lady left the till) tellers were serving customers. By **** I mean like the worst smell I have ever smelled. I actually feel sorry for the people working there having to mop and stuff. If something like this happened where I work and we also deal with customers we would 100% close the doors and sort the problem out - but instead they seem money-hungry and let people walk in through that smell. This is disgusting.
Today was just the very last time I spent 1 cent in a Spar.
