Glenore Kwikspar & Tops

On 30 November, I shopped at Glenore Spar and the cashier had rung up the goods, which amounted to R539.34. When I gave her my debit card, it was declined. She tried 4 times and it was declined every time. Not only was I extremely upset about this but it also was embarrassing. It had nothing to do with insufficient funds, merely declined. I even tried to pay by TT but was blocked there as well. My intention at that stage was to go straight to our bank. The managers on duty had seen what was going on and without hesitation, agreed between themselves to let me take the groceries and "come back and pay later". I was totally bowled over as they didn't know me personally. I left all my details with them, thanked them profusely and after depositing the groceries at home, my husband and I went to our bank. It turned out that SARS had made a mistake, thinking that we were paying foreign tax and told our bank to freeze our account!!!!! It was quickly sorted out by a very efficient lady in the bank, called Angel - and she was just that.

We drew the cash and went and paid Spar immediately. I certainly was surrounded by angels that day.
