Ghastly BIltong

I recently bought some biltong from Magaliesburg Spar for my daughter-in-law. She informed later that day that the biltong was really ghastly: It tasted like soap and was totally under-spiced.

An added problem is that she lives so far from that Spar and from me, that we had no other option but to discard the biltong. She gave it to her dog, by the way, and the dog even refused to eat the stuff.
