falsely accused

In November 2009 until June 2010 I worked at Ennerdale spar as a cashier.On the 16/06/2010 myslf and 2other were accused of theft as money had gone missing from the till,a case was opened and we spent the night in a cell and i was bailed out on the 17/06/2010.On the 18/06/2010 i appeared in court but was later told the case was thrown out no one from the other party was there,not knowing much about law i thought my name would b removed from the system but that wasnt the case.In 2013 i finally got a job at a secuity company and a few months later our fingerprints were taken as part of procedure the results came back saying i have a pending case against my name and could not go back to work until i had cleared my name.I spent 3weeks at home during which i went to Pretoria but was sent back to Ennerdale.I spoke to the detective handling the case and he called the person who opened the case,she then said she wants to continue with the case 3years later even though she neva followed up.The docket was sent back to court and after waiting another year the detective decided to close the case.I would therefore like to know if i can take any steps for deformation if yes how can i go about it
