FALSE SHOPLIFTING ACCUSATION

On the 14th June 2024 at around 15:43 my mother who is 59 years old visited out local mall - Chatsworth Centre to purchase some items for their supper (burgers). She stopped at the Checkers store for some burgers and eggs at around 15:09 and thereafter went to the Spar store for the other items. After purchasing the items at Spar, she then walked out when she was approached by a security guard who took her trolley and asked her to walk to their security office. When she went to the security office, she was met with 4 security guards who accused her of *****ing burgers and eggs from the Spar store. My mother then produced her receipt to show that the purchase was done at another store but the security guards disputed this with her due to to the date on her Checkers receipt showing the 01/06/24 (which refererred to the last date she accumulated points). They continued accusing her of being a ***** and constantly accused her of *****ing rather than listening to her. Another gentleman had to look at the Checkers receipt again and finally saw the correct date and time of the purchase that showed today's date. Upon identifying that she was NOT a *****, they advised that she could leave BUT WITH NO APOLOGY OR REMORSE.

My mother is HIGHLY TRAUMATIZED due to this event.

We would like to question the Spar group on the caliber of security guards that they hire based on the following: THEY ARE NOT VIEWING CAMERA FOOTAGE PROPERLY TO IDENTIFY REAL ********S. THEY CANNOT READ A SIMPLE RECEIPT TO PROPERLY CHECK ON ITEMS PURCHASED AT OTHER STORES. THEY DO NOT APOLOGIZE TO CUSTOMERS AFTER INCORRECTLY ACCUSING THEM OF THEFT.

THIS IS THE VERY 1ST TIME THAT MY MOTHER HAS EVER BEEN ACCUSED OF THEFT AND SHE IS CURRENTLY TRAUMATIZED AND IN TOTAL SHOCK!!!
