Extra airtime charges

I've never had a problem with SPAR before infact they were one of the best supermarkets in South Africa, but that all changed today when I was told to pay extra for airtime. Can someone explain to me why Telkom mobile airtime is charged an extra 50c at St. Geoge's Spar?
