Expired Fruit

I bought water melon today the 5th November and it had a expiry date for the 4TH november I didn't notice it was already expired so I went and got a refund and never bought anything again..I'm very disappointed cause I usually buy from there everyday ,and it was still on the shelf.My thing is IF something IS expired why is it still on the shelF..POOR service CHELSEA SPAR
