Exorbitant pricing in times of emergency

I purchased some ****** yesterday at the Underberg Spar, at the time I did not realise the exorbitant price that was charged, there was no price on the shelf. With the restrictions we have I try not to linger too long in the shops, it was only when I unpacked at home I saw the price on the packet and was horrified to see the ****** was R410.26 per kg. This is nearly twice the price of fillet steak, Rib Eye, Biltong and the like, and to make things worse it is poor quality ******. The last time I bought ****** was on the 16th December before the level 3 lockdown and ****** was R90.85/kg at the Underberg spar, I still have the till slip.

I can't help thinking that it was ************ and underhanded the way the ****** was sold at an exorbitant price with no displayed price on the shelf. At this price I would never have bought it, and I feel I have been cheated once again by ************ retailers, it makes me so angry as I am normally price conscious and a careful shopper. Whether leaving prices off the shelves is deliberate or not I don't know, but I have noticed it on numerous occasions. The worst in my mind it is those that can least afford it are possibly those that are affected the most by retail trickery, especially now.

With the restrictions that have been placed on people at this present time of emergency, it is unconscionable to think that retailers take advantage like this. Whether profiteering is ******* in times of an emergency or not I don't know, but I do feel it is ************, and that things like this should be investigated and regulated by the correct authorities.
