Dragged, Choked and Handcuffed by SUPERSPAR Owner and management for telling the Truth

The owner of this SPAR and his management team represent everything that is wrong with South Africa. A few days ago, we purchased a few items from this store and after paying for and exiting the store, as we were about to enter the carpark, I noticed a bubble gum bottle was hanging from the tassels of an item of clothing I had been wearing. I only noticed because I felt something kept bumping against the back of my knee. I immediately left my husband to continue towards the car while I returned to the store to return the bottle of Orbit gum. What I was not prepared for was what would ensue from simple honesty. Maybe I was naive to believe that anyone in the same position would have done the same thing or that SPAR would understand and appreciate the honesty of its customers. Instead when I reported to a teller and the security guard what had happened the owner came out and told the security to not let me out of the store. Nevermind the fact that I am the one who had returned to the store voluntarily to return the gum. Never mind the fact that I had made an actual purchase just before for R180. When my husband and brother came back inside to corroborate my story, I was called a *****, dragged to the back and upstairs against my will, all the while telling them I didn't do anything wrong. My husband and brother were pushed out of the store for refusing to let them take me to a concealed location without the presence of police. I was held in a choking position by a lady with green braids who works at the store because she said she was sick of telling me to go upstairs as if they were entitled to force me. Once upstairs against my will, I was insulted by the owner and his managment team who continued their assault and abuse against me calling me a ***** and that I should go ahead and post on social media if I wanted because I was a *****. That is how sure they were that I had ****** even after I begged them to view the CCTV. Who *****s and doesn't put something in their bag or shopping plastic but rather walks around with the item hanging from the back of their clothes in open view? Which ***** goes back and reports themselves to a teller and security?? They then ordered someone to put me in handcuffs. I was then ordered to stand and they cuffed me to a window that was high. I was left to stand there with my arm hanging in the air while they continued down the passage telling staff I was a ***** until the police came and set me free. To say I was traumatized by this whole ordeal is an understatement. I spent Christmas and the past few days in tears for myself, my family and for every South African who will always be guilty because of the colour of our skin until evidence is produced saying otherwise. That white owner had no doubt in his mind that I had ****** because to him there was no way I could return something to his shop. They were not prepared to give me the benefit of the doubt even after they had the receipt proving I had bought. Even after they were told I was an Attorney. He said I was an Attorney who was also a *****. To abuse, violate and degrade a female and another human being is inexcusable and this experience will live with me for the rest of my life. SPAR, a store I grew up using has now become a symbol of pain, racial profiling and abuse and I can never see myself ever supporting such an establishment ever again. None of my accusers ever came back to apologize or produce this evidence they said they found. The owner left me in cuffs saying "this *****, let her go to court." I never want another South African to feel they have to lie and ***** because they are too afraid to be honest because no one will believe them in this country. SPAR must account for this because your inhumane practices warrant that you be shutdown. There is no place for such practices in a democratic society that is governed by the rule of law. Worst day of my life.
