Dissapointed!
Good Day,
I hope this mail finds you well. I would like to express my disappointment and dissatisfaction in the manner I was ill treated by the staff and security guards at the Spar Tops, Bluff Road, yesterday 04.06.2020.
Firstly when i arrived it was just after 4:30 so there was a que outside to manage the number of people in the store as per the Covid 19 rules, I assumed. Then I stood about a meter away from the person in front of me, then the security guard very rudely came and asked me if I am in the que to go in. To which I answered "Yes" then he said I needed to come closer to the person in-front of me.Then I said "No" I need to maintain spacing of at least a meter or two, Mind you everyone before were all squashed up with no spacing between them. Then they opened the door and allowed a group of us from the que to go in, sanitized us as expected then I went in.
I then bought items that I needed and paid by then it was around 4:45 - 4:50. Before I could get to the door I realised that they had closed for incoming customers but a friend was outside and he then asked to purchase a bottle of Vodka cause i was already inside. I then turned to go to the isles to take the the Vodka bottle the one security guard said to me sisi you will not be allowed to buy that bottle the two Spar assistants and two guards came up to me all shouting at once, saying they will not allow me to buy. I then said with all due respect may i be allowed to ask something, I then asked them to move back to give space as per the Covid 19 rules. Then I asked which rule would I be infringing if I bought this vodka now and the guard said they will be in trouble with the cops. I showed him the time on my phone which it was 16:50, 10 minutes allowance regarding the Level 4 Lockdown rules. I then asked, Do Spar rules not stipulate that when the customer is already inside the store they must be served? The two Spar employees walked away with the one saying I must be served. The guard then followed me insisting that I will not be served. I took the vodka from the isle and proceeded to the cashier, he kept following I asked him to keep a safe following distance as per the covid 19 rules. He did not seem to care. I then got to the cashier and I placed the vodka, when the cashier was about he came and pushed me aside, grabbed the Absolute Vodka and said i should not be served, shouting and screaming across the shop embarrassing me. Then he starting handling and pushing me. I told him this is blatant abuse . And I asked for his name he turned around and removed his badge and continued pushing me and refused to give me his name. I told him for my own safety I will leave. Because he was up in my face and not regarding the 1 meter social distancing rule at all. I then let the Tops side of Spar and I went to Shopping centre side of, where I requested for a manager. I was shown a lady, short colored lady, I did not get her name. I explained my complaint to her. She then said she will call the Tops manager, and asked me to wait outside. I realized after I had waited for 10 minutes seeing her walking up and down the shop that she wasn't calling no manager she just wanted me out of the shop, another embarrassing moment. Considering the loyal Spar customer that I am. Now I would like to know which of these above acts of mine were ********.
I am hurt that I was ill treated at a Spar and Spar employees just left me hanging with a security guard who could have hurt me in more ways then one. If this is the acceptable behavior kindly advise me so that I will cancel even my Rewards membership and never set foot at Spar again.
I sincerely hope you have cctv footage to prove the above and will bring those involved to required correction and or disciplinary.
I hope to get your prompt response on the above matter.
