Disgusting Service and Lack of Accountability
I am extremely disappointed and frustrated by the unacceptable level of service I received at Spar Rosmead. What should have been a simple purchase of two six-packs of rolls turned into a drawn-out, degrading experience due to staff incompetence and poor customer handling.
I was assisted by a cashier named Zelda, who demonstrated a complete lack of awareness and training. While I was attempting to pay with my American Express card, I clearly communicated this to her, yet she allowed me to unsuccessfully swipe three times before casually informing me that a different machine is required for AMEX payments. This alone reflects poorly on staff training and attentiveness.
The situation worsened when she retrieved the correct card machine and openly admitted she did not know how to use it. I then had to guide her through processing MY payment, something no customer should ever be expected to do. After the transaction was clearly approved on the machine, she attempted to print a receipt, which failed. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, she began blaming “new ownership” and lack of training, completely unprofessional and not the customer’s concern.
The most unacceptable part of this experience was when she told me I could not leave the store because she didn’t receive a printed receipt and was worried her till would be short. This was both insulting and degrading, as it imp**** dishonesty on my part despite clear proof of payment.
I was then forced to wait approximately 11 minutes for a reprint of the receipt due to their system issues. When I requested the names of the supervisor and manager to escalate the matter, both Michelle (supervisor) and Zulpha (manager) refused to provide their details, another clear indication of poor accountability and lack of professionalism.
This entire experience highlights serious issues with staff training, customer service standards, and management accountability at this Spar. Customers should not be inconvenienced, embarrassed, or treated with suspicion due to internal inefficiencies.
I strongly urge Spar management to address these issues immediately. Proper training, basic payment handling knowledge, and professional customer interaction are not optional, they are essential
It is with much hope that Spar Rosmead can rectify this to the best of their ability.
