On 28 June 2016 date I saw that SPAR Herm**** advertised a 750ml bottle of Glenmorangie whiskey for R429.00 per bottle at their TOPS liquor outlet. Currently a similar bottle of whiskey sells for R449 at Pick and Pay. The marketing price was boldly displayed across the area where the Glenmorangie whiskey was positioned in the shelves of the TOPS liquor department.

When I presented 2 bottles of the Glenmorangie whiskey at the till for payment, I was informed that the advertised price is not correct and that I must now pay R499.99 per bottle. I raised my concern to the cashier and demanded that the Glenmorangie whiskey must be sold to me at the advertised price. The cashier refused and under protest I paid R499.99 for each of the bottles of whiskey. I attach a copy of the sales receipt indicating the inflated price that I was made to pay. I then requested that a manager from SPAR must be called to resolve this glaring misleading marketing and to reimburse me. A Manager, Mr Fredi Pieterse appeared and rudely in front of my wife and other customers refused to entertain my request.

I pointed out to him the glaringly obvious misleading marketing but he rudely brushed my complaint aside and loudly said the advertised price is for goods elsewhere on the shelves. He rudely tried to prevent me from taking pictures of the misleading marketing scene. I attach hereto a picture that I took on my cell phone of the advertised goods in the shelves with the advertised price clearly visible. Also visible is Mr Pieterse trying to prevent me from taking the picture of the shelves.
