Cambridge SPAR and TOPS in East London Selling expired alcohol
I am deeply concerned and disappointed by the level of disrespect I received from Big-G (The Supervisor)and Wayne (the so called owner of SPAR )when I requested to be refunded and compensated for transport costs incurred while returning the expired alcohol that was purchased at Cambridge SPAR and TOPS in East London.
Upon my arrival I spoke to the cashier named Sibongiseni telling her that I have returned the expired alcohol for exchange but unfortunately that opened a can of worms as I found out that all the stock for Hunters extreme Bold and Brutal Fruit spritzer they were selling on the day was expired and that enabled me to exchange. I ended up requesting for a refund and I also requested if I could be compensated for transportation costs as I had to travel because of their negligence of deciding to sell expired alcohol to customers.
I spoke to 2 supervisors Siya who went through the store with me when we noticed that all the stock at hand on that day for the aforementioned alcohol brands was expired. I also spoke to Big-G who could not help and claimed that they never had a similar incident at that SPAR and tried to brush the matter off that I should understand that the country was on lockdown and my reply was that “yes, but that doesn’t mean Tops at SPAR should be selling expired alcohol to its customers and refuse to compensate me for transport costs incurred while returning this expired alcohol.” He also made a silly comment that he did not invite me to buy alcohol at SPAR. Noticing that none of them were able to help nor understand my request I then requested to discuss this matter with the owner, this is where this unruly Wayne who was in full SPAR uniform and said to be the owner came in. I tried to discuss the matter with him ( my request for refund and compensation for transport costs) but he did not listen at all and could barely let me finish a sentence but rather made silly comments and asked silly questions. After telling him for several times to listen to me he finally gave me a chance to talk and when I told him about this negligence his question was “so you’re perfect and you never make mistakes?” I did not entertain that as I told him that this was not just a mistake but a negligence. He further stated that the compensation for transport costs is not going to happen and that I should rather use the money I got refunded with for transport. He made a lot of silly comments that I did not mention here and I could not believe the level of respect I received from him as the owner.
I personally feel that Cambridge SPAR and TOPS is putting my life and other customers lives at risk by selling expired alcohol.
I even have proof of the pictures I took on the day.
