Blatant disregard for customers and terrible experience

Took a trip to Howick for a cricket match and decided to go to Spar to grab some snacks for the game.

We found 2 rounds of sushi , 1 that was very clearly priced at R75 and the other with some sort of indecipherable misprint before the 75.

Upon scanning the item it came to R175 at the till and I refused to pay that price as the price displayed clearly states R75. As per reference to the customer protection act section 23 very clearly states that no supplier shall demand more for an item than the price displayed. The supervisor first came to the till saying that it an extension of the barcode that caused a misprint in the price , she called the manager of the bakery who tried to convince me and clearly said “it is our right to refuse for you to purchase an item priced incorrectly “ thereafter I was met the manager named llyold who is a very large and intimidating man. He approached me extremely rudely and didn’t even greet or acknowledge me as a paying customer before abruptly grabbing the item over me and raising his voice at me and embarrassing me in front of a shop full of people.

He treated me as though he was disciplining his child he raised his voice and continued to reach over me after saying “do what you want there’s no way you’re paying R75 for that item” I left the store feeling attacked and extremely embarrassed.

I truly have never felt so demeaned and insulted in my life and would like to actually speak to a lawyer about this incident and proceed further because I really felt uneasy at this instance. I told the manager that I’d be contacting head office and he advised me to do what I want.

After reporting this to head office I received an automated response saying I'll be contacted soon . It's been 5 days and not even an apology... I'm so appalled
