BIRCHGATE SPAR. Bad service
I have never been so disappointed in Spar Birchgate in Birchacres.
Being in retail my whole life I know what is expected from the moment a customer enters to the moment they exit. It seems like an easy job I will say, I guess that is not the case at Birchgate Spar. Supporting this Spar for years as it is close to where I stay. But ever since the renovation took place it looks like everything went south.. I didn't complain because I know mistakes do happen but in my case it is one too many
1 a few months ago I bought a dozen hotdog rolls( HARD AS A ROCK Like it has been standing for days, I bought anyways as I didn't want to disappoint my family. Got home had to bring the half a dozen back it had Mites inside. The manager at that time was kind enough to give me another packet..
2 one day I bought Avos 4 for R99. It was out of season, didn't mind to pay for it as I really wanted the Avos Got home all of them were black.. drove all the way back to return it as I won't pay R99 for avos I can not enjoy. One of the fruit and veg guys helped me and I could return it.. I wish I got his name because he has been a great help. He even cut one avo in front of me to see if it is not rotten too.
3 last week I did some general shopping and I always look at cheese and how much it works out per KG. I then noticed the one cheese says R102 p/kg and the other R103. No others it might see it as "it Is just R1 but add R1 to 10 people I just informed the manager as I didn't want to make a fuss over it..
4 I am not working in security but I have noticed a lot of cashiers leave money laying around or even leaving their tills open. That is a big risk as I know of many time that exact Spar has been ******. Maybe that is something you need to look into.
5 And this was just the cherry on top for me and the actual reason for my complain I have never been so angry in my life before, I wouldn't have complained if the lady just apologized. Today I bought my general groceries and decided to pay at the one cashier named Thuli. She was busy helping a customer in front of me so I waited.. When I finally got to the cashier desk I have put all my stuff down when she was busy packing her money away. She didn't even greet not a "hello mam" nothing, the first thing she said to me was "Plastic?" I said "yes thank you" I then asked her for R200.00 cash back..she did just that but when it was time to put my pin I accidentally put the wrong pin as I couldn't remember it. I Phoned my mom at the time so she can just read back the pin. So I asked Thuli to try again. But she then forgot the R200.00 when I asked about it her response was "eish". I asked her to put it through for just the R200.00 bit then she rang the bag for 0.95c. I asked her then what she was doing her response shocked me so much I couldn't believe what I was hearing Her response was "you put the pin in wrong and that made me forget to put the R200.00 cash back I had to ring the bag because you can't just swipe for R200.00" if she only apologized and said sorry mam " I made a mistake" I would have paid the 0.95c for a bag with a smile as I know exactly how a Frontline works. But to make me out as the bad person and then look me like you want to slap someone was as low as you can get in the Frontline and I really hope that you don't do this to others as well.
