Bad store policy on guarantees

Just had a Pineware kettle break down. Looks like the element is burnt. Guarantee expires in May 2018. Store has emphatically dismissed any responsibility to honour the warranty because a burnt element MUST mean the kettle was used with no water therein.

Summary of store policy: The customer is only right if we say so.
