Bad inhuman service

On 24 June at 18:05, I visited SPAR Jean Avenue while 10 days post ankle surgery. I was in visible pain, and the cashier kept calling for a manager to assist with a void, but the manager ignored her while talking on the phone. After more than 3 minutes, the cashier went to the manager and explained I was in pain — still, the manager refused to help and rudely said, “My other shops come before customers.”

I decided not to buy the water anymore and asked them to throw it out and return my own personal water bottle which I had brought with me (paid R100 at another store). Shockingly, the manager refused to return my bottle, saying “Report me, I don’t care. You won’t get your bottle.”

Even staff and security agreed her behaviour was rude and unacceptable. I felt humiliated and ignored — especially as a woman of colour.

SPAR, this is not just bad service, it’s inhumane. I want my bottle back, an apology, and assurance that this type of treatment won’t happen to anyone else.
