Bad customer service
On Sunday the 19th of January 2020, I went to Spar Newtown to pay for my DSTV account and buy few groceries, I saw a lady by the nheame of Patience whom I asked if I can pay for my DSTV at the tills and she said yes. I quickly did sopping for the few things that I needed and when I was done I was called in a till where Maureen served me, after paying for my goods I asked her if I can pay for my DSTV and she referred me to the kiosk till . I went to the lady at the kiosk, I didn't take her name, she checked on the system but she was offline. As I was leaving the store, Patience saw me and asked me if I was sorted with my DSTV and I told her that Maureen referred me to the kiosk and they system was offline. She then asked me to come to her till so she can assist me, she explained to me that we can now pay at the tills it's just that the system is still new to the cashiers. As she was helping me, she got stuck as I wanted to pay more than what was showing on the system. Patience then called in her Supervisor by the name of Nthabeleng, who came in and treated Patience very rudely in front of me as a customer. I voiced out to Nthabeleng that she cannot talk to Patience the way she is talking in front of me, I further urged her to help Patience to assist me and they will deal with internal issues later. Nthabeleng just left without showing Patience what to do and continued to talk with some Indian guy who also works for Spar as if nothing happened. I watched her in awe but I was in a hurry to be asking for the manager. Is that how your supervisors are trained? Leaving customers unattended? Talking rudely to a fellow staff member as if she is dumb? My problem is with both Maureen and Nthabeleng. Maureen did not bother to try your new system, instead she referred me to a cashier that she knows very well her system was offline, how is she going to learn the new system if she doesn't try? Nthabeleng is more of a disappointment and disgrace, mostly because she is a supervisor of such a big brand store. I am a client relationship manager myself and that is not how you treat customers. I deserve an apology from Nthabeleng and a commitment that she will not continue with that attitude not to only me but to her subordinates and all other clients of Spar. How she got the supervisor position with that attitude it puzzles me. Something need to be done. CRM is a very critical role in any business to be successful. Shame poor Patience did not give up, she exited the system and tried again, that I am thankful for, she is the best. We both restarted the process and on her screen I saw where it said "edit amount" I asked her to press on it and hooray it worked and I was able to pay my DSTV. Even though I am very angry with the behaviour of the 2 other staff members especially Nthabeleng, I was impressed with Patience, how she treats customers, how she never fought back when Nthabeleng was rude to her, how she did not give up until I was assisted. I'm one that give credit where it is due. I await for feedback regarding Maureen and Nthabeleng.
Yours treated badly customer, Nomafa
