Appaling service and profiteering
I am writing to tell you why my family now shops at the Pick n Pay store a few blocks from our local SPAR, Brighton Square, Brighton Road, Kraaifontein. Since the beginning of the lockdown, this outlet started selling their potatoes in 5kg pockets instead of the usual 7 kg pockets, at an inflated price. The 5kg costs the same as the 7kg pockets at Capegate Spar, Pick n Pay, and Checkers. When I approached the manager of their fresh produce, the lady met me with unbecoming arrogance, and tried to convince me that 7kg pockets of potatoes are no longer available from suppliers, a total fabrication. She then went into the general manager office and I overheard them ridiculing my complaint. It IS NOT UNREASONABLE to be able to purchase a generic, widely available item such as a 7kg pocket of potatoes from my local SPAR! The exclusive selling of the 5kg pockets at the price of 7kg is nothing less than profiteering. I shall take this to the press.
