5 cent pieces not accepted

I wanted to pay with two five cent coins but the cashier wouldn't take it as it is apparently not legal tender anymore. This is news to me but if that is their policy, then fine. I then asked her to reverse the sale, not out of spite, but because I literally had no other coins on me and wasn't going to break a R100 note.<br> What I didn't appreciate was the manager's sarcasm.<br> Smaller shops like this one need to realise that us who live in Johannesburg have a wide choice where we can spend our money. I certainly won't spend mine here again.
