Sold spoiled meat – serious consumer rights concern

On 23 January at 19:28, I purchased meat from SPAR Selcourt. When I got home, I immediately realised the meat was off — the smell was absolutely unbearable and clearly unsafe for consumption. By the time this became apparent, the store was already closed, as were all other nearby shops. As a result, I was left unable to replace the food, leaving my family without supper that evening. This is not the first time I have bought spoiled meat from this branch, which raises serious concerns about food safety, stock rotation, and quality control. In terms of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), consumers have the right to receive goods that are safe, of good quality, and fit for human consumption. Selling spoiled meat is a clear violation of these rights and poses a potential health risk to customers. I expect SPAR Selcourt to take accountability, provide a proper explanation, and confirm what steps will be taken to prevent this from happening again. Customers should not have to worry about being sold unsafe food.
