SUPERSPAR 2nd Avenue

COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT

I am extremely disappointed with the shocking decline of SPAR Second Avenue Alberton. This wasn't a one-off bad experience it's been a consistent pattern over multiple visits, and I've finally decided to take my business elsewhere. The biggest issue is the constant advertising of specials that simply don't exist in-store. Time and again I've visited specifically for advertised specials, only to be told there's no stock. Even more concerning is that staff members often have no knowledge of the advertised promotions, whether they're in-store specials or Inland specials. This points to poor communication and even poorer management. The store itself is in an unacceptable condition. Shelves are frequently empty, fruit and vegetables are often rotten or well past their best, the bakery no longer appears to produce fresh products as it once did, and the deli offers food that tastes old, has very little variety, and is nowhere near the quality customers should expect from SPAR. What makes this even more disappointing is that this used to be one of my preferred supermarkets. Sadly, it has deteriorated to the point where I will not be returning. I also know many other customers who have expressed the same frustrations and have stopped shopping there. Fortunately, I discovered SPAR Meyersdal, and the difference is night and day. The shelves are stocked, the food is fresh, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It proves that the problems at Second Avenue Alberton are not a SPAR issue they are a branch management issue. I sincerely hope SPAR Head Office investigates this branch because it is damaging the reputation of the SPAR brand. Customers deserve better than empty shelves, rotten produce, unavailable advertised specials, and staff who are unaware of promotions. Until significant improvements are made, I cannot recommend this branch to anyone.
