Spa d’ sulis poor standards
I had booked a spa treatment for my friend and I. She had sent me a few packages from various spa’s and we opted for the one at protea for the convenience of closeness to Gateway Mall. It had been my first time at the spa and I must admit it was extremely disappointing.
Firstly, besides the self sanitizing station at the entrance, there seemed to be no other precautions had been taken during the covid pandemic. No temperatures were taken at the reception and there had been a lady walking around without a mask.
We were not even offered tea/coffee facilities which we would’ve gladly paid for.
We were taken to our room for the massage: *Ambience - 0/10. The room was extremely bright, hardly any room to undress. * High levels of noise - I am not sure what premises is directly next to the spa, but during the whole massage we heard people talking, shouting, vehicles revving and hooting. Impossible to relax. * My the****** seemed like a trainee, she did not seem like she knew what she was doing. * During my foot hot stone massage, I kept telling her that the stones were too hot, she kept burning me and when I reacted, she and the other attendant kept laughing as if it was a joke. I watched what she did compared to the the****** my friend had. You could easily see the difference in knowledge of what she was doing.
I have been to various other spa facilities in Durban and this was by far the worst, I had never felt the need to complain about treatments or even email about it but I could not keep this to myself. I have emailed the spa directly months ago but got no reply. The standard definitely needs to improve drastically.
This had been my first impression of the spa and will probably be the last.
