South Rand Hospital

I just came back from the Hospital with a sick 1 year old child. My child's temperature is above 39°, he is crying nonstop stop. When I got there I was seen by a nurse i told him what is wrong with the child and one Dr came to see us, with an attitude she asked me what was wrong and I told her then her response was, 'so they told you that when children have fever you must give them panado and bring them to the hospital?' I looked at her and and kept quiet. Then she added by saying we must go to OPD, this is an emergency not an OPD. They put the first thermometer and his temperature was 39.9°, then they asked me to take off his clothes and put the second one, then his temperature went down to 38.6°. They said the baby's temperature is normal I must come back home. Why would I waste my sleep and go to the Hospital when my child is not sick? If clinics were operating 24 hrs, we wouldn't waste our petrol to go there. We pay so much for TAX that we cannot even afford medical aids, for that nonsense. They are gambling with people's live, why do you go to work if you don't want to do your work?
