Southgatewheels not taking responsibility for their false Full Service History

The Garage said the car we are interested in has a full history service. The day of purchase they said the service book and spare key are with the owner and will be couriered to us. We picked up the car on Saturday and the Monday we took it in to Land Rover for overall check up. Land Rover stated few problems and that the car needs a service in value of +-R15 000 and the Radio with other problems R5000. Since that day Southgatewheels does not phone back does not give any feedback or any thing for their side. First debit order has not even gone off yet.

Good day,

I hope we find you well.

We would like to extend our sincere apologies for the delayed response. We were awaiting a quotation for the radio from the client. Eventually we contacted Land Rover ourselves and now they have since sent us the quote

Also after numerous attempts the client was eventually able to send us the copy of the service book yesterday.

Please find attached the service history and the quote from Land Rover. There is a gap in the history but the services were done, however the book was not stamped and we will forward proof of such as soon as we obtain it from previous owner.

Southgate Wheels are willing to settle the bill amounting to R 5 489.50 . for the fault on the radio and bonnet shocks with the blade assembly.

According to Mrs. Blenda Keys her main concern is related to a service which is related to a pulley etc which she is under the impression needs to be changed and she has instructed Southgate Wheels to carry out the request as such.

We have decided not to go ahead with the service after being advised by numerous different Land Rover dealers that it is not due yet according to their service schedule which is attached. Please kindly peruse through the documents . The vehicle was also not due for a service even at the time of purchase and the major one will only be applicable in mid June 2018 or 168 000km as that will be 10 years old, whichever shall occur first. The vehicle was purchased in February and the mileage at the time was 132 000km.

In all cases even if a vehicle is under motor plan , and less than 5 years NO franchise dealer will do a service on a vehicle 4 months or 36 000km before it’s time.

The client will be liable for the costs for this specific service only in June 2018 and all other services while the vehicle is in her possession. As much as we sympathize with the client’s concern on this particular issue , it’s not the norm for a dealer to accommodate it fully.

EVENTUALLY WE SETTLED THE MATTER WITH A FULL AND FINAL SETTLEMENT OF R10 000,00 FOR THE CLIENT TO TAKE CARE OF ALL OUTSTANDING REPAIRS.
