Run In...(from behind....literally that is!) by Southgate Wheels

*********, ************* and Full of EMPTY Promises

Not hard to understand why there is so many negative reviews here about Southgate Wheels on here and many other platforms! Let me second many of those statements and say that these guys are definitely not someone you can or should trust to do anything with never mind buying a car from them...

Although I have not bought a car from them I had a different "run in" (from behind....literally that is!) with them. On the 8th of March on a rainy day their driver was speeding along and lost control of the VW Amarok "bakkie" he was driving and slammed into the rear of car while I was slowly driving along a straight road.... Long story short the driver immediately started offering apologies ect while I was taking pictures of the scene and his Vehicle that was being driven *******ly on the public road with smooth tires, no valid licence on the vehicle and no garage number plates or permit in the vehicle.... Then goes about speeding while its raining!

Upon driving to their premises to talk to his boss and see what to do had to sit and wait for a long time to eventually meet with Mr Venesh the Manager of some sort at South Gate Wheels. Well aware that they are at fault and *******ly on the road they offered to take care of repairs and fix my car and then we don't have to go and bother with reporting the incident to authorities ect. I made it clear from day one that as long as they supply me with a loan car for the few days while they do the in house repairs that i'm okay with the arrangement as long as they do repairs up to industry standards that is acceptable. I was told that Mr Venesh will call me during the following week to arrange... which never happened! Another week there after I went back to them asking what is up, and was told to came back the next week Monday to hand in my car and collecting the loan car. They would then fix it in the days leading up to that Friday when Easter holidays was starting.

Already not happy with being involved in a accident without causing it and then waiting on promised phone calls from them that never happened... I arrived the Monday morning as agreed shortly after 8am. Only then to be told by Mr Venesh that the owner has decided that he now cant supply me with a loan vehicle any longer but will continue the repairs.

Which was agreed to from the day it happened and we agreed to not report the incident and from day 1 explaining to Mr Venesh that it is okay by me as long as I have alternative wheels to get around. So how is that for a slap in the face and going back on ones word in the last minute! Typical Second Hand Dealer..... Now I'm sitting with a damaged car that is un-repaired, the incident not reported and real F#*&@$# You attitude from these supposedly big and brilliant people at South Gate Wheels!

Well when someone is full of empty promises the day they are at fault and then slowly refrain from what ever they had to promise to stay out of trouble day 1 then you can bet your back side that they are in it only for themselves and no word they say can be trusted. So save yourself the problems and STAY FAR AWAY from SOUTH GATE WHEELS!

You will hear from me again....that is a promise!

On the day in question the 8th of March 2018 when our driver was on his way to our other branch, the roads were wet due to heavy rains in the Randburg area and throughout Johannesburg there were multiple accidents on that day. Since the roads were slippery , the vehicle he was driving did slide and bumped into 2 vehicles that were in the vicinity. Damages on both vehicles were minor on the Hyundai H100 and the other one was a Jetta which suffered a minor dent on the rear bumper and both damages on both vehicles amounted to an insurance excess of R5000.00 hence we opted to do the repairs ourselves.
Both owners of the H100 and Jetta did not have insurance cover on their vehicles . being an organization of our calibre we kindly offered to repair both the H100 and Jetta at our own cost to avoid further inconveniencing both persons. We fully understand that our driver was at fault and hence we took the rep for the mishap. The driver of the Hyundai H100 brought the vehicle to us and we managed to repair and bring it to its original state within a space of 2 days and he walked away a very satisfied individual because in normal circumstances the insurance of both parties have to liase and go through the contracts in order to rectify or get the vehicles repaired.
On the other hand the Jetta client who has complained in this very platform, insisted on a courtesy vehicle which is an extremely unreasonable demand even if one has insurance ,. Our duty and civic responsibility starts and ends by getting the car repaired promptly and in his case it was going to be a day or 2 to bring it back to its original condition. Supplying a courtesy vehicle to the wronged party after an accident is not covered by our insurance policy hence we offered to repair his vehicle just like we did for the other party who did and is very happy.

Please note the client was insisting for us to give him a courtesy vehicle, yet at the timeof the accident our vehicles were tagged at an average price of R 100 000.00 AND his vehicle being a Jetta 3 19995 to 1998 model worth R20 000.00 . . No company will take such a risk. We only provide a courtesy vehicle if one adds it to their policy.

If the client had an insurance cover on his automobile , he would have claimed from them and his own insurance company would have covered him in that event and the insurance company would have taken care of the repairs. It’s unfortunate that accidents do happen when roads are WET and no one is a perfect driver including himself. Our vehicle which was driving on the public roads was in possession of a garage plate and was on the road legally and it was a road worthy vehicle , so we don’t understand where the false victimisation is coming from. The client had an intention of purchasing a Hyundai Tucson, unfortunately someone else made a payment before him. Nevertheless all conversations were recorded and there was no time he showed any politeness because of the vulgar language he was using . The client who took the vehicle was the first one to deposit money into our bank account and that’s who we sold the vehicle to

The situation escalated for more than a month because he still wanted exactly the same vehicle which we did not have until we eventually handed over the matter to our attorneys, since we were unable to give him the vehicle that he wanted. When the client eventually agreed to be refunded we made an EFT to him and there is no balance outstanding to him .

Southgate Wheels has been in existence for the past 4 years. During this time we have sold approximately 3700 cars which averages about 925 cars per annum. In this 4 year period we have received approximately 35 comments from clients that are unhappy with the service received from Southgate Wheels. Based on the statistics its only less than 1 % of our clients are unhappy and as much we strive to please and satisfy all of our clients it is virtually impossible. Our stats have proven that our customer service super cedes most franchise dealers and corporates. However we will continue to strive towards excellence although we will never be perfect.
