Misleading information from the Dealership
I am writing this letter to formally file a complaint against Southwheels Motors regarding my recent vehicle purchase and subsequent service experience. On April 21, 2023, I purchased a silver Chevrolet Cruze from your dealership, located at North Tugela Avenue in Florida. At the time of purchase, my fiancé and I agreed to acquire this vehicle.
On the day of the purchase, we encountered an issue with the vehicle - it would not start. Your salesperson, Prince, informed us that the car had a "BCM" problem and assured us that Southwheels Motors would address this issue. Despite the initial setback, we proceeded with the purchase of the vehicle, making a cash payment of R75,000. A discount of R9,000 was app**** due to the vehicle's starting issue. Prince promised that the car would be ready for delivery within a week.
However, the promised delivery date was not met, and we were informed that additional problems were discovered in the vehicle, further delaying the delivery. Issues with the lights not working were identified. Finally, the vehicle was delivered on May 29, 2023. Upon inspection, I noticed that the car still had unresolved problems - the doors would not lock, the engine light was illuminated on the cluster, and there was an issue with the boot. Prince documented these issues, and we agreed to return the car for repairs on June 2, 2023.
During the drive home from the dealership, I also observed that the gears were stiff, and Prince was notified about this issue. He assured us that it would be addressed when the car was returned for repairs, which took place on June 2, 2023.
Unfortunately, the vehicle's repair process took longer than expected, and when I inquired about the gear issue on June 21, 2023, Prince promised that it would be resolved. On June 26, 2023, I was informed that the car was ready for collection. However, upon inspection, I discovered that the boot was still wired, the engine light issue remained unresolved, and the gear problem persisted. Prince stated that further arrangements with the workshop were necessary.
After receiving the car, I was unable to drive it due to an expired driving permit. It took me a month to renew the permit and acquire a new number plate. To my dismay, on the day I attempted to drive the vehicle, the gears became stuck in reverse. I immediately contacted Prince, and the dealership towed the car after a week, on September 9, 2023.
Since then, the vehicle has remained in Southwheels Motors' possession. Unfortunately, we have not been able to reach a satisfactory agreement regarding the repair of the vehicle, as I was unexpectedly asked to cover the costs of the repairs. My attempts to seek clarity and resolution from the dealership were met with resistance. During our last meeting, Clifton, the manager, stated that the report indicated that the issues were a result of negligence on my part, as the vehicle had been driven for over 2,000 kilometers with unresolved gear issues. I requested a second opinion, but this request was denied by Clifton.
Given the circumstances, I kindly request that Southwheels Motors reconsider our agreement and cancel the deal, as it is evident that the promised service and truthfulness have not been honored. The vehicle is currently in your possession, and I have been without a working vehicle for the past two months.
