staff ganging up on guests

The service at Stay easy Mbombela, was below the belt.

The lady at the reception by the name of Bomikazi is going to run that place to the ground with the assistance of the manager Catherine. Who said “ sorry shame “ when we reported our issues to her.

On the 8th of December 2023

I walked into stay easy Mbombela hotel, just after 5pm.

We approached the reception where we found one lady helping a guest , my friend then went to the other lady as they had two different computers. We booked separately so she was checking in under her booking.

I stood 5 feets behind the guest we found there, as soon as he finished and walked away , I then approached the lady by the name of Bomikazi , who moved towards the other lady who was helping my friend with checking in.

i asked Bomikazi if this is one counter, and she said yes we can only assist one person it is one counter.

I said ok and moved back to where I was standing. I could hear the conversation between her and my friend. There was a point where my friend asked why the amount she needed to pay was not the same as the one on her booking details. she responded by saying "if you had read the terms and conditions you would know" I nearly fell , the way I was shocked . I was disappointed at the same time. I had a mixture of feelings. what a distasteful service.

when she was done mopping the floor with my friend before us, and guests behind me , I then approached the counter , while she was helping me , i noticed that the lady on the side was helping other guest , i then asked her if she didn't say this is one counter they can only help one person at the time. did she not mop the floor with me saying that the lady next to her is a trainee. My question was why didn't she say so rather than saying , rudely, that it's one counter. she didn't end there she added that i am wasting her time she needs to help guests , i then asked if i was not regarded as a guest she failed to answer.

when i was about to pay i had a problem with the limit i notified her , also rudely saying i am definitely wasting her time. not to end there we were given wifi password, not told how to get to our rooms.

My little sister went down for ice , where Bomi told her not to use the paper cups on the right side of the ice cooler. She ended up finding plastic to put in the ice. Remember when we were still at the reception there was a couple taking ice there, that’s when we noticed that they had ice . But we weren’t allowed to fully explore . I went down to get other items in the car when I found that there was a car parked close to my door that I couldn’t open . I went back to the reception, just when Bomi was searching for the owner of the number plate I had presented to her , the owner stepped out of the lift . She then pointed us to them . Which I found unpleasant, she was supposed to approach them and address them accordingly. What if we had a misunderstanding with the driver and ended up having road range ? Whose fault would that be ? On Friday night we came back from dinner and noticed that our card couldn't open the door, so we went back to the reception. The guy said the door is not opening because according to the system we had to check out today. We told him that we haven't even slept on their beds, but the system was already kicking us out. which clearly meanty Bomikazi had done something to our profiles After breakfast we went out to explore Mpumalanga, when I was shooting content, they noticed that I wanted my video to open the door. They kept on closing the door, please look at the CCTV for this , I was standing there now like an idiot. I strongly believe that someone was behind this . As I was approaching the door for it to open it would close if I walk back it will open this happened from quite sometime maybe for a good 5 minutes. On Sunday morning just before 5am , we walked back to our rooms where we found 2 of them open. We had left our belongings there knowing that they would be safe as we had the keys with us. We were shocked to find them open, and had to search if there’s nothing missing at 5 AM . On Sunday before checking out , we went to the manager who just stood with us by the reception and said on behalf of the southern sun sorry shame. When we raised the matter of the doors she said she would contact her maintenance guy to look at it. But the “ sorry shame “ knocked me out. This is the main reason I am informing you about it . I don’t think that a manager of a highly respected company should address clients like that . As I have mentioned before, this was not my first stay with southern sun , I have experienced splendidly beautiful services on Durban beach front . What I also took out from this is that the manager was protecting her friend Bomi , who you could tell that she doesn’t care if we report this to the manager as they are besties at work , drawing southern sun name to the mud , running the entire hotel as if it’s a student accommodation in the middle of Johannesburg. Distasteful.
