No proper security at Mount Grace, my car broken into, no accountability by hotel
Friday afternoon the 7th October 2022 we checked in at Mount Grace Southern Sun Hotel in Magaliesburg on arrival we parked our at the common parking as that's where everyone parks this is away from the rooms. We went into reception made the above booking then one of the small golf cars came to assist us with the luggage. The driver loaded all our belongings and drove us to our room 124. He dropped us at room we unpacked had dinner later and enjoyed the rest of the weekend. On Sunday (09 October 2022) after checking out we went to the vehicle to take our luggage only to find out that the door handle of the drivers sit was broken and a huge hole was made into the door. We then went back to reception back to Samkelo who did our check out as well, and we told him that someone broke our car handle which was a tempted ******* and were unsuccessful. He then called the head of Security Anthony and another guard. They assessed the vehicle and called the police; the police came after an hour or so. They took our statement the same statement that was given to Anthony, they assessed the vehicle wrote a report and provided us with the below police case number: Case registered on 2022-10-10 at Magaliesburg Station ref nr CAS 21/10/2022 contact details. There are no cameras at the parking of the hotel and the gate, the police took this down as well. There seems to be no patrolling guards as they could have picked this up which they didn’t, we saw the damage to the car with the handle on the ground at 12 noon while checking out if there were patrolling guards they could have picked this up and brought it to our attention or the hotels attention but this wasn't the case very disappointing and weak security measures at this hotel. why do they ask us to leave our cars at the parking all weekend if they can not guarantee good security, The hotel doesn't want to take any responsibility for this instead they telling us to take the matter up with our insurer, where is they accountability in all this. When I complained Anthony the manager was quick to tell me there was no negligence from they side how did they come to that finding? How is it no negligence if there are no cameras and patrolling guard who could have picked this up if he did a good patrolling job? Since that day they have never communicated with us to provide an update on the matter. All they said on the day we will call the police so that you can claim from your insurer they see nothing g wrong. I'm without a car had to pay R3000 excess what an inconvenience
