Mount Grace Hotel and Spa is definately no longer 5 star!!!

I have been going to Mount Grace Hotel and Spa at Magaliesburg for 15 years plus and I was always SO impressed with them. They are expensive but I always paid with a smile, especially for the spa treatments. However, I spend 4 days there this past week and I am sorry to report that they are no longer on standard. The worst was the food...very uninspiring. I ordered a ceaser salad which contained 1 cherry tomato and the croutons were two slices of french loaf which must be a week old. Next night I ordered fish which was over cooked and then a burger which was dry with store bought patties. Those legendary breakfasts are gone. The spa was just as dissapointing...the treatments felt more like "rubbing" than massages. The manicure and pedicure did not include the arms up to the elbows and legs up to the knees - just the hands and feet. It felt like somebody that was doing dishes in the kitchen was trained for a day or 2 to be a the****st. The accommodation was great because I was very kindly upgraded to a villa by Mone. However on the 3rd day I had no hot water, the telephone stopped working so I could not order anything or request a ride and the villa's access card stopped working. I received a new card after I fell from the balcony in an effort to enter the villa (took a bad knock to my back) and fortunately somebody called for help, after which I received a new card. I understand that these things happen and that they are dependent on services from places like Telkom but I think they could have handled it much much better. So all in all...I was very dissapointed!!! I paid good money for my holiday and definately feel cheated. So if you are planning a trip to Mount Grace...think again!
