Medeo Restaurant - Doesn't Take Bookings

I tried to make a breakfast reservation at the Medeo Restaurant at The Palazzo Hotel. I was informed that they don't take reservations from the 'general public' on weekends. If you open to the general public it's ridiculous that you wont take a reservation. I'm told to just show up on the day and 'hope for the best'. The reservation is for Father's Day. Why I on earth would I show up and 'hope for the best' when there are plenty of other decent 5 star hotels in Johannesburg that will actually take a reservation? What poor service but who expects decent service from Southern Sun these days? It certainly seems like a thing of the past.
