Gift card not accepted anywhere

i have a Southern Sun gift card that I need to use but no one accepts this card. Firstly I was told it can be used at any restaurant affiliated to Southern Sun, but this is not the case. We get to restaurant and immediately are told they don't accept this card.. This is rather frustrating and embarressing every time. How am I supposed to use this card? What's the use of having this if we cannot use it. If card cannot be used then I need to get the remaining balance paid out to me on the card.
