Extremely Poor Service!!

We booked into the Southern Sun-Pretoria, on the 17th of September while my mother was in the hospital. We have stayed at a few other Southern Sun hotels on numerous occasions before and have experienced impeccable service.This time around however it was definitely NOT the case. Upon arrival into our room, the air-con was making a horribly loud noise.I called and maintenance had a look, however a few minutes later the noise continued.After a second call and 20 minutes of having to wait for them to fix it, they came to replace the air-con.This was frustrating as I had appointments and was then late.The safe in the room could not lock due to the battery being too low. There was only 1 very small bottle of water for a room that sleeps 4 people. The air conditioning in the gym did not work.There are no batteries in the equipment such as the rowing machine, and the condition of the equipment is far below standard. The rooms toilet would not flush, which resulted in another call to maintenance... I have to say that the maintenance workers were very friendly and helpful, however I should never have had to do with them in the first place!! Our breakfast was cold and there were no serviettes on the tables or any staff waiting on the tables to assist. I would expect such poor service and run-down facilities from a cheap motel, not a supposedly "4-star hotel". We paid a lot of money for one nights accommodation and were going to spend the next 6 nights there, however we will not be returning. I am really disappointed in the service we experienced and unfortunately this has resulted in us seeking alternative accommodation. We had future booking at the southern sun, however this has now been cancelled. I sincerely hope Southern Sun can get their act together soon, we will most definitely not be returning anytime soon.
