DON'T TRY AND BOOK AT 54 ON BATH UNLESS YOU ARE REALLY IMPORTANT

We have been regulars at the level four restaurant at the Tsogo Sun in Rosebank for a number of years because we enjoy the food and even though the attitude and service is way under par. This morning I tried to make a booking for 3 people for High Tea on Monday afternoon and after being shunted from pillar to post we finally got to talk to someone who could handle a booking at reservations. We then got told that unfortunately we couldn't get a booking as there were no other people doing high tea on that day despite the fact that we regularly support the restaurant we either needed 6 people to get the "Chef out of bed as it were" or we could leave our number for the hotel to call us back if they got some additional bookings for that day . So now the hotel wants us to leave a birthday booking to chance and their useless service so that we don't cause any convenience to the Chef and the Hotel! I then asked to speak to the hotel manager and was told that I couldn't do that because he was in a meeting. I find it despicable that the restaurant is advertised and one of the trendy high tea places only to find out that it is a service which is purely at the hotels convenience and that I should consider coming back at a time that is convenient for them. Absolutely shocking attitude and service. We will never support the hotel or the group again! When I asked why the hotel doesn't make it clear that High Tea is only OCCASSIONAL and entirely at the hotels convenience I was told that the advertising does say that there are terms and conditions! What an unbelievable cop out.
