Don’t abide by road safety regulations for infant car seats! It’s not safe to travel with them if you have a baby

Anyone with a baby knows how stressful it can be traveling alone so I booked for myself and my 2 month old baby with Southern Shuttles because I thought it would be a more comfortable way to travel to the airport with space and air con. They also pride themselves in there description of services, offering a safe and secure way of traveling for parents with infants. I confirmed my booking 2 days in advance and told them I had my own car seat. They rep**** ‘message noted’ When the driver opened the shuttle door he said sorry but the lady in front won’t give up her seat because she is claustrophobic. So I had to clamber into the back of the full shuttle where there was no space for my baby and I to sit next to each other. My normal standard size car seat could not fit in the chair at the back because the seats in front are too close, so I was unable to buckle my baby in safely with the seat belt. How was I going to sit separately to her and now not even be able to hold her seat which would have rocked about and even fallen when going over bumps? Luckily an elderly lady saw my distress and offered up her seat so I could at least sit next to my baby. I had to sit on the edge of the seat while her chair was sideways, holding on. The driver did not make any attempt to help me secure the chair before pulling off. I messaged there business WhatsApp number to tell them of my disappointment and to suggest they reserve the 2 seats behind the driver for parents with infants and car seats in the future. They answered that they can’t tell other passengers where to sit and that I should have specifically reserved a seat (ok why didn’t they mention that when I confirmed my booking?) and that the driver can’t get involved because he needs a clear mind to safely drive all the passengers. If my baby started to cry and I wasn’t next to pacify her the driver and all the passengers would be in a lot more distress! Anyway I just wanted to warn parents that they dont abide by the road safety rules in securely fastening the car seat because unless you are in front it probably won’t fit. It was a very anxious hour for me hoping we weren’t in an accident and I was very uncomfortable sitting on the edge of my chair because I had no space.
