Poor Claims Management and unacceptable outcome.

My goods was delivered on the 21 Feb 2023. We had damages to our antique table, refrigerator, toolbox and wooden head board. Chess Moving was the partners for SA Relocations who offloaded our furniture. After seeing the damage I immediately notified Chess Moving on the 21 Feb 2023. They however came back to me on the 2nd of March and told me that I have to contact South African Relocations. After contacting South African Relocations on the 2 March with our claim and mailing them continuously they only came back to me on the 5 April 2023 and told me that I did not send through the claim within 7 days. SO THE CLAIM WAS REJECTED ON THIS GROUNDS. The tool trolly was even damaged when it was loaded in south africa and recorded on the loading docket and not even this was considered. This is unacceptable. I would apriciate it greatly if any Manager from South African Relocations has the guts to contact me on e-mail.

Hi Pieter,

As per the T&C';s which you signed and agreed to, all claims need to be submitted within a week of delivery to you. As this was not done, unfortunately the claim was rejected. We have no way of knowing if the goods were damaged post delivery and as such need this clause included in our All-Risk conditions. This would be standard industry practice, but the amount of days to claim may differ from one company to the next. I apologize that you have been left feeling unsatisfied due to this, but it is clearly stated and was agreed to when accepting the cover and service with our company.

Kind Regards,
Tony Hartmann
Sales Manager.
