Be warned about South African relocation groups

I enlisted the assistance of this group moving my life from Australia to South Africa but the whole experience has been nothing but a nightmare. The move involved a vehicle and at the start of the process, I enquired from them if I needed to do anything for transportation of the car and they advised me that I needed to get it deregistered, which I did but as I know now, that was not enough. The company has admitted that they didn’t give me the appropriate advice but they still have made me liable for all the expenses incurred due to their fault. For greater part of the process, they were demanding different documentation and it came to a point where it was making no sense at all. They wanted me to provide the coloured copy of the engine number etc. I was pleading with them to help as I was sleeping on a sponge mattress and I explained I was 65 years old with a chronic knee pain but this all fell onto deaf ears. They didn’t even have decency to advise me when my consignment had arrived in South Africa. It was only on the 25 March when my daughter put pressure on them to reveal where the container was that they told her that the container had been sitting somewhere at Mobeni from the 13 March 2024 and was accruing R5,200 daily on storage charges. For the Easter weekend, they rung me requesting R75000 for the storage from Friday through to Monday and this didn’t make any sense and no one was prepared to give detailed explanation. Each time I was trying to speak to the coordinator I realised that nothing was done to get my stuff out. Their clearing agent requested information 3 weeks after the consignment arrived at mobeni and this is the information I had already given to the shipping coordinator in February. It sounded like they were calling for all these documents to keep me quite but nothing was actioned. I had to enlist the assistance of the law firm who have pushed through with some results. At the end I had to pay R195,00 to get the stuff out but the car still had to go to a bonded warehouse. Then at that point they invoiced me again for R38000 as it was another week. Then it was just the car alone but was slapped with a bill of R29k without an invoice from the storage company and they refused to provide me with that information. The car then got delayed to be released because even though I had made all necessary funds payable well on time opting for immediate payment, the relocation group didn’t pay the relevant agencies on time and the car was not released on time. For that I was charged another R900 for storage which I paid as immediate payment on a Monday morning and I was advised to go collect the car on Tuesday at 1230. I got to the storage and waited for nearly 3 hours because the R900 I had paid, hadn’t been passed on to the storage company. When I rung the coordinator, she informed me that the accounts manager had disappeared and if I could pay the R900 and they would reimburse me, I paid at the storage but I’ve never been reimbursed for my losses. I had also taken a cover to the value of R100,000, and I have some of my artwork and ornaments that perished and when I requested the information as to how to make a claim, that has been totally ignored. I never have had such a distasteful experience in my entire life
