Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008

On 24 January 2016 I purchased a JVC 24\ FHD TV (model: LT-24N350) from Sounds Great, Woodlands, Pretoria. I clearly explained to them the purpose of the purchase - to be used as a monitor with a newly procured desktop computer. I was told that I would not experience any problems. However, despite every effort and consulting widely including the supplier of the computer I was unable to configure a HD picture. And yes, I did use an HDMI cable to integrate the TV and the computer. I returned the TV to Sounds Great on 30 January 2016. I believe that there was nothing wrong with the TV as a TV - this was confirmed after Sounds Great tested it with a HD signal but not from a computer. I requested a refund as the product did not meet the intended purpose. At first reluctant Sounds Great did refund me but only after deducting a 10% handling fee. I believe that they transgressed Sect 55 of Act 68 of 2008."
