Avoid at all costs - No premises Security, No Support

Stay here at your own risk! We chose to stay at this Airbnb at Silvermist Organic Wine Estate, listed as a "Lavish Retreat", due to its 24-hour security. Despite this, we were ****** on our second night. We found the burglar must have come through an unlocked window that was left unlocked from before we arrived. This gross negligence from the cleaning staff was not a one-off, as a few days later we returned from a day out to find a bottom floor window wide open. We received no assistance from the property manager. The organisation ‘Soughted Constantia’ took zero responsibility for what had happened, and offered no compensation. They have since stopped responding entirely. This was a shame, as the house was very nice and the view was exceptional. But the loss of over £3000 worth of valuables really tarnished our experience. We were also informed that 2 weeks later, the same house was burgled again. This suggests that this unit is being targeted - perhaps as it is often rented out to foreign tourists. It also highlights the lapse in security.

Dear Amori,

Thank you for your feedback. We take safety and security very seriously and we are genuinely sorry to have heard about the distressing experience you had during your stay.

Upon being made aware of the burglary, we responded promptly and sent our property manager to the property to assess the situation. We also worked closely with the housekeeping team to address security concerns and have taken steps to prevent any such occurrences in the future.

While the burglary itself was unfortunately beyond our control, we did everything within our capacity to support and assist you during your stay. Additionally, we have ensured that our staff underwent polygraph testing, and we can confirm that they have all been cleared. We will also continue offering our support to SAPS, should it be required.

We appreciate that you brought this matter to our attention when it happened, and we will continue to monitor the property closely and make improvements to our processes moving forward.

Kind regards,
Soughted Property Management
