The worst rental Experience Ever!!!!

<p>I rented a property with Sotheby's Realty South Africa in 2016 where the agent is Mam Elisha Botterill and the owner of the property is Mr Clinton Minaar who is an emloyee of Stanlib. We had a 12 months contract which ended end of January 2017. When I moved into the property during the Inspection there were a lot of damages which were marked on the checklist so that the owner of the property can fix and make my stay comfortable in his property. These damages include the front door lock ( which they promised to fix as its detrimental to my safety especially as I am a woman and lived alone, sadly it was not fixed), the toilet seat , and the laminated flooring were also damaged. The plants were all dead in the pots, the carpet was stained, etc..During my stay, i then found additional damages which the Agent failed to check during the entrance inspection and the 7 days for me to report had ellapsed. I moved in and they were not fixed up until today. I have since moved out of the property on the 29 th of January 2017 and my deposit has been held back since then. I have enquired from both the agent and the owner of the property when I should expect my deposit and I have been advised that the sink stopper is missing hence my deposit is held back. I took the sink stopper back and I am still waiting for my deposit. I was then advised that th e owner ( Mr Clinton Minaar has 14 days to pay back the deposit. the 14 days have elapsed and I have still not received my deposit of a total amount of R 7850.80. I was then sent an email that I will not be getting my deposit yet as the owner went and inspected the place himself and found damages to his property. what was shocking was the rudeness to his email, and him accusing me of damaging his property when the damages are listed on the checklist before my mive in. I am appalled at the way I have been treated. They since been avoding me, and I have heard nothing from them and today is the 16 of February 2017. I am really frustrated . Elisha said she has nothing to do with this, i must take it up with the owner. The owner is nowhere to be found....All I know is that the owner of the Property works for Stanlib. I don't even know how he manages peoples Funds at Stanlib when he is so untrust worthy and fails to manage his own Property. This whole situation has given me anxiety, and I no longer trust Estate Agents as they can drop you at any time.</p>
