Overcharging, grumpy attitude, poor quality from Sorbet at The Glen was unexpected

Good day

I visited the Sorbet at the The Glen Shopping centre on Friday 16th Dec 2016 with a friend to have a final treat for the year. Firstly we booked treatments together and when we arrived we were asked to sit separately at either ends of the store which defeated the point of having a girls’ day out. What also didn’t make sense was that I had booked a gelish soak and application for my hands and feet and was asked to sit in a treatment room whilst my friend who was only doing a paint was given one of the two chairs - which should have been the opposite way around. I then had to insist that we be placed together because we did request as such when making the booking in advance.

We were then both placed in a treatment room with two the******s and ourselves - it was a tight squeeze for 4 in the room. For myself who was doing the gelish soak and application on both my hands and feet it was extremely uncomfortable and I cannot blame the consultant (Felicity) for not being able work properly under those conditions. My nails clearly reflected as such since they didn’t last as long as they usually do - there were places where no paint was app**** - I was charged for a nail repair that I then had to redo at another Sorbet after removing a nail repair that didn’t need to be removed. Also my nail shape was so off shape and the edges had rough edges which then pulled on my clothes and chipped my nails further. The treatment usually takes 1 hour with two nail technicians (I only got one and we asked for two when we booked) took 2 hours! Time which we had not accounted for and was not explained to us.

The above wasn’t even the worst of it!

Once we had finished our treatments we went to the counter to make payment. I had a Sorbet gift card which I wanted to use and a Sorbet loyalty card voucher via sms which I also wanted to use.

So I gave the gift card and the voucher number and my cell number and clicks card to the cashier for payment. I then said that I wanted to then pay the remaining balance on with my credit card. Firstly the cashier insisted that I cannot use both the gift card and Sorbet loyalty voucher - only one. I then asked why since the gift card constituted a form of cash. She looked at me as if I was stupid. Then a lady behind me in the payment line stepped in front of me and said her name was Taz and that she was from head office and that I, as the customer, was right - that I could use both the gift card and the voucher as forms of payment. Then Taz had to show the cashier how to do this on the system - she didn’t know how to. Then the cashier took my card and inserted the details into the speed point without checking the amount with me and handed the machine to me for me to insert my pin. When she handed me the machine I asked what was the amount and she ignored me. I inserted my pin and then asked again what amount had been processed on my card. She then said R450. Then I said to her that doesn’t add up or make sense because the treatments came to R735, the gift card value was R300 and I had a R150 voucher so the credit card payment was more than it should have been. Again the cashier gave me an irritated look as if I was being stupid. Then she lazily finds a calculator and checks what I said begrudgingly on the calculator - only to find out I was right. Then Taz had to step in again and tell them what bad service this was. Then the cashier says they will refund me the overcharged amount of R275 but if I could please step aside so that they can see to other customers behind my in the line and takes my credit card away from me and places it on the counter for everyone to view. I then started to get upset and asked her if she was crazy enough to think anyone would give a stranger their credit card and step aside and leave the card out of their sight. Then Taz tried to assist the cashier in refunding the overcharge via the speed point. She asked the cashier for the supervisor code and then neither the cashier nor another person in the shop could find it - they didn’t even know what they were looking for in the first place.

Eventually I was given a cash refund for the overcharge from till point by Taz and she took down my details to contact me with an apology and a voucher for the inconvenience and embarrassment that Sorbet caused me in front of my friend and other customers who thought I was just being difficult. I am disappointed to say I was not contact by Taz or any Sorbet contact. I am a regular Sorbet Society customer on the silver tier which means I spent a large amount of money at various Sorbet salons and am extremely at the lack of effort put into rectifying this disservice and poor etiquette from a Sorbet salon. I would never never recommend that anyone visit the The Glen Sorbet ever again.
