Sony Xperia quality and misrepresentation
I travel extensively overseas and bought a Sony Xperia Z1 approximately 20 months ago from Autopage in Pretoria due to the promise of the Sony brand and previous experience with their other products. As I need to use the phone on an international basis, I specifically confirmed with the that the Sony guarantee is an international guarantee of two years.

I however quickly discovered that the phone has an intermittent touch screen issue that the touch screen becomes very unstable and you have to switch the screen on and off for it to fix itself. When I tried to have it fixed, I was told this would take in excess of a month and I did not have the time to fix this. This is apparently a known fault on the model and my frustration is that Sony would release a product with this knowledge.

I am now in New Zealand and when I now tried to invoke the two year guarantee I was told that this is not an international guarantee and that I will have to have it fixed in South Africa. This is not makes a mockery of an international brand, but this also means that I was misled when I bought this as an international phone.
