Sony Xperia M4 charger does not work

I recently upgraded to a Sony Xperia M4 Aqua. I have used the charger approximately 4-5 times since I received the phone. I upgraded in the middle of August, eg 3 weeks ago. The charger does not work at all. How can a charger out of the box last only 3 weeks???
