Product complaint
I have a Sony Xperia Z1 which is a year old. For the first time i used it under water for what its marketed for, just for a few seconds, after which it went blank. Took it to my service provider and after 7 days they responded unrepairable as water damage and its my problem, wrote a complaint about that too. I phoned Sony Support on which they reckon its beyond repair and water damage therefore I lose warranty. On which I responded thats the feature of the phone and which they said i can take to a Sony Repair store to check pressure points and see if it was a default. She noted that there is only one such store in South Africa which is in Johannesburg and I must follow up with them. Really now i must run around for this, and also no guarantee or thought of a better mechanism to assist ! Firstly ensure your sellers (Vodacom) do that duty as they your face, secondly don't market a phone for taking pictures underwater, if when it breaks they say no warranty and ignore your liability and offering assistance. Further have more repair stores spreaded around the country. My take from this Samsung has a better repair policy and repair centre located ideally. Sony may have lost a client!!
