Faulty Sony M5 with poor response to complaints
I received my brand new Sony M5 in November last year. From the very first day I activated the phone, it would go off completely, with no warning and no fixed pattern. The only way to turn it back on was to plug it into a charger. It would do this several times a day, which was a great frustration since I was dependent on my phone for my work.
I made several attempts to complain about this on Sony's website, but the website was faulty and even if it was working, my phone would just turn off mid-email.
Living 2 hour's drive from any repair store, I reverted to using a portable charger, and had my phone plugged in basically the whole day. My phone then started with it's second problem: it would not pick up any reception, even when all the phones around me had full reception.
The response I received from Sony on my email was underwhelming; their call centres refer us to Cell C (who are not the problem) and are not offering any useful assistance. Autopage and Sony refused to replace the phone, but sent it in for repairs. After receiving it back 4 weeks later, the phone is still not functioning. Sony needs to take responsibility for faulty products and replace the phone.
