SOMERSET HOSPITAL VACCINATION CLINIC

Yesterday I went to Somerset Hospital for my second Covid vaccine. I had had my first one at Lentegeur where the vaccination clinic was highly organised and efficient. I expected to find the same organisation at Somerset but was very disappointed. There was practically NO system and organisation. People queued in the cold with no seating whatsoever and the line of people moved so slowly that it took about 2 hours to vaccinate around fifty people. On finally getting to the vaccination room I realised why. Although there were five vaccination stations, there was only one that was giving vaccines!! the other four were not being used. A hospital worker came out with a list of people that were expected for vaccinations - this list was not in any order (they could have sorted it alphabetically) so there was a delay in going through the many pages for the name of a particular person to be found. Another person was taking the names and details of the walk-ins. Walk-ins and notified people were all in the same queue! As I walk-in (because I had been scheduled to go to Canal Walk, Dischem) I gave my details to the person taking them. When I finally got to the front, my name was NOT on the list that the nurse had!! And I had seen him write it down! So that sheet of names was lost somewhere. But all's well - I did receive my second vaccine there eventually - two and half hours after getting there. So - if you live nearby and do not want to travel far for your vaccine, go to Somerset, but take your own chair and some coffee and be prepared for a longish wait.
