Absolutely disgusted and disappointed!!!

On Wednesday afternoon I called Somerset Hospital to check on a patient. I was told that the patient had been discharged at 08:00 that morning. I told them that I would contact the family and also be there by 17:00 in case I need to take her home. The 71 year old patient was diagnosed with cellulitis in her left leg and urinary infection. She is in excruciating pain, can't walk, sit up or help herself in any way. When I got to the hospital I was shocked I saw. The patient had been lying in a completely soiled bed the entire day. When she asked for help no one assisted her. I then spoke to the nurse on duty and they put me in contact with the doctor on duty, Dr Wickham. I asked her to explain to me why the patient was discharged if her leg looked worse and she couldn't walk. She gave me a hundred reasons but none that answered any of my questions, her solutions didn't materialise. She made me wait for her but she never showed. We had to ask visitors to assist us in getting her into a wheelchair. We were given no crutches, wheelchair or a porter to assist us. She is now home in the same predicament she was when in hospital. I am disgusted and disappointed. Your service is terrible!!
