********* Billing Practices and Poor Service from Solver

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the unacceptable service and ********* billing practices of Solver, the managing agent for Acacia Complex, where I am a resident and property owner.

Recently, Solver made a critical administrative error on my monthly statement. Instead of invoicing me the correct amount (approximately R2,700), they only invoiced me around R600. Naturally, I paid the amount that was invoiced. However, last week, Solver contacted me, claiming my account was in arrears and attempting to impose a 10% penalty. This penalty is not only unreasonable but also *******—by law, the maximum permissible charge for accounts in arrears is 2% per month.

Upon addressing this issue with Solver, I pointed out their mistake and explained that I cannot be expected to predict my monthly charges, as certain costs such as water and electricity fluctuate. They acknowledged that my argument was valid. Despite this, I still settled the outstanding balance on my levy, excluding the penalty.

Yet, after this conversation, I received an SMS stating that my account was still in arrears, and to add insult to injury, Solver charged me R24 for that SMS. This entire situation is completely unacceptable and highlights Solver’s prioritization of financial gain over ethical service.

I urge Solver to rectify their billing practices immediately, remove the unjust charges, and commit to more transparent and fair dealings with residents. This kind of treatment towards paying homeowners is unacceptable, and I feel compelled to warn others about these exploitative practices.

I expect a formal response and resolution to this matter.

Umm, No! Solver has my contact details and my email. I have an active mail thread with them. They must simply rectify the error, and revert the penalty and the SMS charge (which is absurd in the first place).

Plus I already tried contacting the head office, but couldn't get through to anyone that was able to help me.

Just fix the problem, apologise and learn from it.
